On Sunday, December 2, 2018, Advent was celebrated with a concert of 7 lectures and carols, telling of the birth of Jesus our Saviour and Lord. Last Sunday, November 11th, St Paul’s Cathedral held a commemorative service for the 100 years since the end of World War I, which took place on November 11th, 1918, at 11 am.
We had the pleasure of the attendance of the ambassadors of Great Britain and Germany, the respective consuls, the Bishop of the Anglican Church of Chile, Rev. Tito Zavala, the dean of St Paul’s, Simon Brignall, English schools of Viña del Mar with their choirs, friends, and the public in general.
A minute of silence was observed in memory of the fallen and a wreath of poppies was placed before the memorial plaques with the names of those who gave their lives for the sake of freedom.
On Sunday 21st we had the great privilege of a concert by a visiting Italian organist, Cesare Mancini, Titular Organist of Siena Cathedral, among many other musical activities. We are very grateful for this opportunity and hope to have Cesare in our Cathedral on another occasion in the future.
The consecration of new bishops for the Anglican Church of Chile took place on Sunday 15th July.
On Sunday, July 7, 2018, Saint Paul`s Cathedral presented a special musical event in the context of the 160 th anniversary with an organ concert undertaken by Ray Horsley, and a vocal ensemble with the Grupo Madrigalistas.
