Simeon was led by the Holy Spirit to enter the temple in Jerusalem where Mary and Joseph had brought Jesus, their first son, to present him to God.<\/p>\n<p>When Simeon saw the child, he took him in his arms and praised God.<\/p>\n<p>His words proved that he had recognized Jesus as the Messiah that he was waiting for.
