M\u00fasica en las Alturas <\/strong><\/h3>\n

Musica en las Alturas (Music on High)<\/p><\/div>\n

\u00abM\u00fasica en las Alturas<\/em>\u00bb (Music on High) are organ recitals open to all interested, played on the magnificent \u201cQueen Victoria Memorial Organ<\/em>\u201d, sometimes together with an invited orchestra, followed by prayer and a hymn. Our Cathedral has had many illustrious visitors interested in interpreting sacred music on the organ, among which we can mention Dr<\/em>. Dominique Proust<\/em> (astrophysicist and French organist), W. Benjamin Hutto<\/em> (1947-2015, Music Director and Organist for the \u00a0St John\u00b4s Episcopal Church in Lafayette Square, USA) and \u00a0Dr. Martin Gaskell<\/em> (astrophysicist and NorthAmerican\u00a0organist). Principal organists<\/strong>: Mr Christian Sundt,<\/em> Mr. Italo Olivares<\/em>, and \u00a0Mr. Jos\u00e9 Saavedra.<\/em>\u00a0Timetable<\/strong>: Every Sunday as of 12.30 pm. Note<\/strong>: during the years 2013, 2014 and 2015 organ\u00a0recitals were sponsored\u00a0by the \u00a0Chilean British Institute for Culture<\/a>.<\/p>\n

This activity contemplates a session with bilingual guides (Spanish-English) for those interested in learning about the history of this Cathedral, appreciate its unique architecture, the colorful vitreaux, the \u201cQueen Victoria Memorial Organ<\/em>\u201d and other details, as well as interesting anecdotes of the cathedral\u00b4s history.
